Rush

FIRST RUSH EVENT: SAT SEPT. 12, 6PM - BZZR PONG TOURNEY @ THE PSI U HOUSE
What is rush?
Rush recruitment for fraternities. Rush lasts basically all of September and is a time when anyone thinking about joining a fraternity can come by the fraternity houses and meet the brothers, find out more about the fraternity, what it’s like to be in a fraternity, etc, etc. During rush there are 2 “IFC Dry Rush Events” which are basically open houses for all of the fraternities, as well as various other events that individual fraternities put on inorder to try and recruit new members. (For a list of events see below) If you are even just slightly considering a fraternity, definitely attend at least one rush event.
What is Bids Day?
Bids Day is the day at the end of September that all “Rushees” (everyone that is looking to potentially join a fraternity) must choose one single fraternity to “pledge”. More information about Bids Day will be provided at the rush events.
What is Pledging?
Once you accept a bid from a fraternity you become a “Pledge”. As a Pledge you will learn more about the fraternity that you are joining, you will get to know the rest of your “pledge class” (All other pledges of that fraternity) very well and with the rest of your pledge class you will have to create a home improvement project, a Pledge Paddle, and host an event. Pledging is the period after rush but before initiation where you really learn what the fraternity is about, what the guys are like, and if that fraternity is really the place for you. You may drop out of the pledging process anytime before initiation.
